- Anyone interested in services for older people is urged to attend the upcoming GCN conference. This community conference is giving people the chance to have their say about Greenwich Council's draft strategy, Living Longer-Living Well in Greenwich.

- The black and minority ethnic (BME) community has a new representative on the Greenwich Community Network — Adam Mohammed. He works closely with the Somali community and other organisations in Greenwich.

- Are you disabled? Do you provide support for someone who is disabled? And do you live, work or study in Greenwich? If so, you have the chance to share your views about public services in Greenwich and how you think things should change in future.
- GCN 'gets together' with the community

- The GCN team has been out and about this summer attending the Greenwich Council's many Great Get Together events. The events have given us the opportunity to spread the word on the good things the network is doing and the chance for people to meet the representatives.

- The Compact document is a vision document; a statement of shared principles and undertakings that underpins the relationship between statutory authorities and voluntary, community and faith sector in the future.
- Consultation on the Local Strategic Partnership

- The Council is currently looking at the way in which the Local Strategic Partnership (The Greenwich Partnership) is structured. Consequently, the Network is also soon to examine the way it works, to ensure it responds adequately to whatever changes occur.

- Greenwich Partnership Board meeting

- The Greenwich Partnership is due to meet on 15th June. As ever, several Greenwich Community Network representatives will be attending to ensure the community is represented.
- CVS Consultation Day

- Unfortunately for the voluntary and community sector in Greenwich, there is currently no CVS (Council for Voluntary Services) in operation. A CVS has an important role to play in any area, and Greenwich is no different, so plans are being laid to develop a new organisation. A consultation event was held on May 17th - find out more about this day here.
- HER Centre - services for women

- Women's network representative Rose Waites works with the HER Centre, a group dedicated to the empowering of all women. Rose is keen to raise the profile of the HER centre, as it runs a number of specialist support groups and training to help the process for personal change and growth.

- The Greenwich Community Network is focussing on a variety of issues affecting the residents of Greenwich. These issues form the basis of community conferences, where groups and organisations are invited to listen to guest speakers who can provide insight into each area. Future community conferences will focus on the four different themes of Local Area Agreement (LAA).

- Having a presence on the web is quickly becoming an essential ingredient for any organisation. Where once a listing in the phone book proved necessary, a site on the internet has quickly become the way to ensure people can easily find you, find out about you and get in contact with you.
